Press Release – Book and Wine Dinner was a Sell-Out
On Thursday, August 12, Author, Amy Schisler, and nationally recognized sommelier, Laurie Forster, partnered to offer an exclusive event at Scossa’s Italian restaurant in Easton, Maryland. The dinner was a sold-out event and brought together men and women of all age, anxious to learn about Amy’s books as well as the wines Laurie had chosen to accompany the event.

Amy Schisler is an author of inspirational fiction Her first children’s book, Crabbing With Granddad, is an autobiographical work about spending a day harvesting the Maryland Blue Crab. Though Amy grew up in Prince George’s and Calvert Counties, Maryland, she spent most of her summers with her grandparents on the shores of the Wicomico River in St. Mary’s County. The setting was the inspiration for Crabbing With Granddad as well as her novel, The Devil’s Fortune. Amy’s debut novel, A Place to Call Home, was released in 2014 by Sarah Book Publishing. Picture Me, A Mystery, published in 2015, was the winner of a 2016 Illumination Bronze Award as one of the top eBooks of 2015. Amy’s critically acclaimed novel, Whispering Vines, published in 2016, was awarded an Illumination Award as one of the top Christian Romance books of 2016 as well as the LYRA for the best ebook romance of 2016. Amy followed up her success with Island of Miracles in 2017, winner of a 2017 Illumination Award for best Christian novel and a 2018 Catholic Press Award for Catholic fiction. Amy released her children’s book, The Greatest Gift, as well as her novel, Summer’s Squall in 2017. Amy’s novel, Island of Promise, the second book in the Chincoteague Island Trilogy, is the recipient of the Oklahoma Romance Writer’s Best Inspirational Fiction Book of 2018 as well as eight other 2018 national literary awards. In 2019, Amy released The Devil’s Fortune and the award-winning, Island of Hope, the final book in the Chincoteague Island Trilogy. The first book in her new series is titled Desert Fire, Mountain Rain, and was released in December 2020. The Good Wine is Amy’s tenth novel and fourteenth published work.

Laurie is one of America’s leading wine experts and author of the award-winning book The Sipping Point: A Crash Course in Wine. Laurie is a Certified Sommelier, National Speaker and TV personality who is not afraid to tell you her first wine came from a box. Her edgy approach to demystifying wine caught the eye of major networks and led her to guest appearances on The Dr Oz Show, FOX Morning News, Martha Stewart Living Today and ABC News at Noon. Laurie regularly speaks across the country where she edutains a client list that includes MetLife, Discovery Channel, Microsoft, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, LG Electronics, National Association of Catering Executives, American Cancer Society and McCormick & Company to name a few. Laurie has performed her comedic wine tasting at locations nationwide including Carolines on Broadway, DC IMPROV, Caesars Atlantic City and recently as a headliner for the 2018 HBO Women in Comedy Festival. She is also the host of The Sipping Point and her mobile application “The Wine Coach” was listed as one of the Top 8 Wine Apps in Wine Enthusiast. A former software sales executive, Laurie’s wine career began in Manhattan where she studied with the American Sommelier Association to obtain her certificate in Viticulture and Vinification. Laurie has since earned an Advanced Certificate with Merit from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET). She has also trained with the Court of Master Sommeliers and the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley.
